The Weakest Link

Which people in your life have had the biggest influence over how you think feel and act? For a lot of us its out family, mum and dad. It could also be a spouse, a friend, a teacher, a coach, these days an artist or celebrity.

These people are passing to us a legacy. The things that they think, feel and do, influence us and are what we will pass on to our children, which if strong enough will continue down the generations. If they are merely old wives tales with no truth to them then eventually the passing of time and science will render them irrelevant.

The fact of life is that we all have to die. I walked in the St Malo cemetery and saw all ages buried there. And felt the sorrow and regret of friends and family left behind. Our lives are very brief, it is a proof of God, but the whole world is in denial. I dug out my grandparents grave from under the earth so it could be seen again. When I'm gone, who's going to do that?

So consider what has travelled down the generations of mankind what survives to this day. To them there must be attached some truth, they have to stand the test of time.

I am not worried about what people think about Jesus. I am 100% confident it is true! The Gospel is such good news but many people just overlook it! It has travelled down the generations since the beginning of time and must carry truth or it would not survive. It carries the 3 things that remain - faith, hope and love, something that evolution does not and so will eventually die as a result.

I visited Erasmus Darwins house in Lichfield - he was the grandfather of Charles Darwin and clearly Evolution was his idea. He believed that the people of Lichfield had superior intelligence to those in Birmingham and therefore had the right to tell them what to do. "You are apes, we are human beings" is what he was thinking. Pride is what evolution really is. A couple of hundred metres away stands the statue of Commander Edward John Smith R.D. Historical truth is like DNA and only the strongest will survive.
